What to Do If You Just Lost Your Job

What to Do If You Just Lost Your Job

Losing your job is not the end of the world. It can actually be the beginning of amazing things in your life. The choice is yours- will you wallow in self-pity or make the beginning of a great  thing in your life.

The idea of losing your job in the first place is not one many individuals most especially in our country

Lately, i have had a couple of friends who got laid off from the banking sector. One of this friend of mine after leaving the banking sector actually went back to his savings and cashed out almost all of it, travelled to China and came back with his very own customized power banks and he is doing extremely well for himself. Funny enough, he is a popular brand but since i am not marketing on here, i would not mention his name but i tell you, even his former bank actually patronized him to produce as souvenirs on behalf of the bank amongst other top organizations and government dignitaries in the country.

So the choice is yours

Here are quite a couple steps about moving on after losing your job;

GETTING A PROFESSIONAL EMAIL:

Getting a professional looking email that has both your first and last name in it is a great way to begin.  Just maybe, if you got extra cash to which is quite little when compared to the professionalism, you could get a custom made email from Gmail using a webhost such as godaddy and other single web hosting platforms.

BULK EMAIL ALERTS:

This is also known as “bombing”. This includes you sending an email of what you do and can do alongside your resume as an attachment to a wide range of individuals including those you know and those you do not know. Stay positive, as out of the multitude, you are sure to get a reply from at least 5 contacts.

EXONORATE YOUR RESUME:

Pimp up your resume but do not lie. Even if you were to lie, talk about something you know if put to the test, you could actually achieve without breaking a sweat but if not, never include such potentials in your resume as you never can tell who or when you may be sort out for.

PROFESSIONALISM USING THE SOCIAL MEDIA:

LinkedIn for instance is a very high rated platform for all types of business men locally and internationally. Having a LinkedIn account with a well drafted out profile and a good looking professional picture could get any organization buying what you sell as regards your profiling and regular posts. This is the best place to sell yourself i must tell you. Amongst other social media platforms to join are, Facebook, Twitter and more.

GET A BUSINESS CARD:

A business card comes in handy when you decide to step out and attend functions with the need to network and get people knowing what you do and how they can contact you if the need arises. This is one of the top and most efficient way of marketing yourself and your abilities.

NETWORK:

You could go online and surf out an entrepreneur in your line of expertise and drop a mail or maybe call if there is an available number to arrange a meeting in form of a date to seek professional advice ti be able to help you connect with the world in a better light as well as also seek counsel and directions to walk on the right part.

HAVE A QUIET TIME:

Take out time to think things over and reminisce your stay at your previous work place and what may have gone wrong. It is not a bad idea to be sober for a bit but then only so it helps makes you rise up and yet much better to be able to conquer. Losing a job is not the end of the world as there are actually better opportunities out there that could be awaiting you.

DO NOT EVER SAY FALSE OR TALK RASH ABOUT YOUR PREVIOUS EMPLOYERS:

When you get to bad mouth your previous employers just because you were laid off, you should also know that the potential people who maybe have interest in hiring you could be listening passively maybe at a function or an interview where you are asked to talk about your previous work experience and what ensued between yourself and your ex-employers. They are sure to get the vibe that in the same case if you are laid off from their own organization, you would also go out there to speak rash of them as well assay false things which could be detrimental to their organization. Be wise and speak less.

KEEP FIT AND MAKE A CHANGE:

Have in mind to look good by keeping fit everyday of your life so people see you are doing good for yourself and not blame your malnourished looks on effects of losing the previous job. Put in mind also to make a change each day that passes in any little way possible.
